Clay-court tennis on terraces above the sea — the first great social week of the Riviera spring.
The Monte-Carlo Masters is the first big clay tournament of the season, played at the Monte-Carlo Country Club on terraces above the Mediterranean. The setting is as much the point as the tennis.
Weekday sessions are calmer and easier to book; the semi-finals and the final on Sunday are the social days. Lunch at the club, dinner in Monte-Carlo.
