La Zagaleta: Europe's Most Exclusive Gated Estate

Behind two guarded entrances in the hills above Benahavís lies 900 hectares of pine forest, private golf, and villas that rarely, if ever, appear on the open market. Of 420 residential plots across the estate, roughly 250 have been built upon, each set at a scale and distance from its neighbours that makes the estate feel more like a private nature reserve than a residential development. North and South gates are staffed around the clock by armed security, checking credentials and license plates against a resident registry before any vehicle is admitted.

Two Private Golf Courses
