Twice a week, plane trees shade one of Provence's most photographed markets, stalls of produce, flowers, and antiques filling the square at the heart of town. Escaping to the Islands
A short boat ride from the bay, the Îles d'Hyères — Porquerolles chief among them — offer a version of the coast without the crowds: pine forests, turquoise coves, and a single small village built around a square rather than a marina.
